Default Replacement carpets and jute bonding question

After a week of scrubbing and vacuuming my OEM carpet I have come to the conclusion it is done, too stained and stinky to salvage. I received my "factory spec" replacement today for my 2002 Trans Am. It is MUCH lighter weight and the jute looks to be thinner too. As I am putting in sound dampening material I think this will offset some of the weight gain. As I took the carpet out of the box to inspect it I noticed the jute is separate and neither it or the carpet backing look to have any bonding agents. Searching the internet it appears contact cement is one of the more frequent options used. Living in Texas I know the interior temps will climb to crazy levels so I want to ensure whatever I use won't melt or release smells when heated (the original carpet has something foul staining, my suspicion is milk and/or tobacco juice). I also noticed the OEM jute has a "heat shield" that goes over the hump where the catalytic converter is, I might remove this from the original and bond it to the replacement too, even though the sound dampening material will be there, can't hurt having extra heat protection, right?

Is contact cement the best option or are there other products people have used when replacing carpets? I will want to get a low VOC version of what ever works well in bonding the 2 together. The OEM one is separating on the drivers side (where brake fluid was soaked into it) and passenger seat wells (where the mystery liquid and stuff sat and worked it way through the carpet backing into the jute). I don't know how absorbent the jute is or how strong a material is needed to bond to the carpet backing?

Best bet for a cheap DIY fix is the headliner spray glue in a can you can get at the parts store.

Other than that, the legit upholstery shops use this out of a spray gun.

Thanks @HotWhipT/A I have some contact cement but wanted to make sure I was using the right material for the right application.
