Firebird Door Crack

Both my doors had the infamous crack. The driver side was worse. So I fixed them. First I used bent copper wire that I melted/heat-pressed into the back of the crack to secure the two halves back together. After some weeks, the top edge of the crack on the driver door started to open up a bit so I got a plastic weld kit and patched over my previous fix. I used the iron to start blending the back side of the crack a bit and melted in some plastic filler. Then I melted/heat-pressed metal mesh into the that and melted-in more plastic filler over that.
Although structurally mostly-repaired, the cracks were still visible. I was considering covering the door panels in vinyl or leather. However I have a vinyl decal cutter. So I made Knight Rider inspired shield decals to cover the cracks. The one not-installed in the pic is an accident that is slightly too large. Also, before installing them, I trimmed the black vinyl around the edge to follow the outline of the grey shield and only be slightly larger all around. I'm on the fence on the outcome but it still looks better than cracks. It fits the theme though (see radio pic at end).
