Default Possible to replace seat foam?

My 94 is about to turn 30 and the captain's seat is showing its age. I've had the leather repaired once already but now I want the seat to *feel* new again. There's a huge difference between the two front seats, the passenger seat feels much more fresh and cushy. Can an upholstery shop replace the foam if I ask them? Is that a common request for those guys? Are there types of foam to choose from?

I had a local shop fix my drivers seat. He added an additional spring to the frame (the OEM frame only has two springs, leaving a large area in the middle unsupported). Then he rebuilt the foam bolsters, and added additional foam to the bottom cushion. He also fixed the leather of the outside bolster, which had the common wear marks from 20+ years of getting in & out.

Result: the seat looks brand new. Initially, it felt a little overstuffed and strange, but we recently took a road trip of 200+ miles, and afterward it feels much more normal, and is quite comfortable.

Total cost was about $250, and took him a couple of days. I took the seat out, and left it with him, as there was no rush. I'm very satisfied.

if the leather isn't ripped, I wouldn't mess with it. I would just get something like this :

Just watched a YouTube video yesterday where they were steaming the foam with some sort of steam wand and it plumped the foam up enough that when they put the leather back on it looked brand new. Maybe I'll inquire about that.

I would NOT steam the foam. Steam + foam = moisture and mold. And most likely quicker deterioration.

i would avoid cutting pieces yourself as when compressed you can feel it the cuts. This happened when I tried to make a custom one for my motorcycle. May get it to look nice but wont be comfortable. A shop capable of shaving out of one piece or that knows what theyre doing should do you good. Might be pricey but hey itll be worth it
