Someone said that GM has been repopping dash pads again, for the past three years. Is this true?

Huh, I found this. You would think that something like this would have made more noise.

I've been staring at the crack in my dash for over a year now..... but for $700+ I'll have to stare at it a little longer.
Honestly thought about getting the carpet dash cover the crack and to cut down on glare on the windshield.

If you want a rug, Lethal Interiors has the best looking covers on the market. None of that bullshit overhang that makes most of the rugs look cheap, like a bunch of retarded monkeys designed it.

Their website is ****, even by 1995 standards, which it looks like when it was made, but you're not buying the website lol...

There was a period when they weren't available from GM, and I think folks assumed they were discontinued (myself included), but they have been an active GM part number for quite a while now (more than three years). In fact, I don't recall any period when the earlier (1999 and prior) "Dark Gray" version wasn't available. I think it was just the 2000+ "Ebony" version that was missing for some time.

Huh, no ****? That's all that anyone complained about - they were discontinued... only thing available is NOS, if you're lucky to find one... all that we have now are covers... someone needs to start making real dash pads, etc...

I thought the reason for the exorbitant price on GM dash pads, was because OOP and scarce, but now knowing that GM has been making them, and they're pricing at $700+, I'm vexed.

I was going to have a custom cover made, for my CETA, so the pricing I knew was different.

I just bought a replacement dash pad by "KUAFU" on the amazon during their black friday sale. It arrived recently, I have not tried fitting it yet. I will before the return window closes.
My original dash pad cracked this past summer. Was fine until then. Oddly enough, my windshield cracked at around the same time (also original). The car was just sitting in the driveway when it happened, nothing hit it, no clue why it did that.

Definitely a clean look. Better than the other garbage I've seen. I forgot her name, but the owner was very nice.

Yeah maybe so, I'm impressed it made it this long without cracking. Just surprised me that both cracked at the same time when nothing touched either of them. Dash pad ok I understand but the windshield that was weird.

The $500 was for the GM dash pad not the Lethal Interiors cover.

The biggest issue with the GM dash pad is the webbing isn't substantial enough to provide enough structure. I had one crack when I hit a bump in the road.

Yeah, I remember years ago when folks were stating that the pad was discontinued, and I looked up the part number for the Dark Gray version in my '98 and it was still available. Then someone posted a part number for the Ebony one and, sure enough, it was gone. We all thought it was gone for good, but then it came back. I always thought it was odd that the earlier one was still available, usually it's the other way around. I remember when GM discontinued the earlier Dark Gray center console lid but still kept selling the Ebony one for YEARS after. Not sure what was the cause of the weirdness with the Ebony dash pad though.

You can get the GM dash pad for $500 from GMPD but, of course, they want like ~$200 for shipping.

I had my dash pad upholstered with alcantera around 2010, one of my favorite mods I did because it eliminated the glare. Quality of life exponentially improved.

Got some pics?
I'm sure if I tried to remove mine it would come out in way more than 2 pieces and be hard to glass or plastic weld back together

I can’t believe someone has popped out a high quality real carbon fiber. Replacement. I would think for about the same price it has to be doable. Not only would it look cool, but real carbon fiber it’d be structurally strong enough to withstand the thermal and heat loads.

My only issue was the front corners near the dash of all places didn’t want to lay down. It finally did. I just had to add a lot more weight to those corners there. It can be done by yourself. When I bought the car it came with a brand new one of these. I did it in the spring and it 3 days for it to dry at mid 70s temps in my garage.
