Default Periodic Use Car Cover for a 1998

1998 Firebird Trans Am, looking for a good periodic use outdoor (or indoor/outdoor car cover) for the times I have to work on my other car in the garage and the Firebird has to sit outside. I really just don't like leaving things outside not just in the elements, but also like the privacy of having a cover over something nice I've put a lot of money into sitting in my driveway inside of in the locked garage, where it is the majority of the time I don't need the garage space free for other stuff. I like to not give people flashy shiny things to look at when they drive past my house in case they get stupid thoughts in their heads, but sometimes the other car is on jack stands and the job just ain't getting done until a part comes in or I get the motivation to finish it.

Thanks in advance!

Note: I did an advanced search in this forum and the newest thread I found was 9 years old... I am going to look through those threads too, but want to make sure I'm getting advice about all current products available and a lot can change in 9 years!

I have to keep my '74 outside because I have more toy cars than garage space. It's on a cement parking pad behind my house though, so I don't have any worries about anyone seeing it, but I do want to keep the elements off of it.

I was really happy with the CoverCraft WeatherShield HP model. It worked great for two years to keep everything off the car, and it was very easy on the paint. But now that it's into its 3rd year its really not doing much to block out the water any more. I don't know if it's the fact that the car is always parked in full sun (so the cover takes the brunt of this) or if its the winter exposure that wore it out so quick, but either way it needs to be replaced. I actually just ordered another one earlier this week, maybe by the time this one wears out I'll have a garage for it.

Hoo boy, I wasn't looking in the $500 range! I don't doubt the quality is good and for that price I'd hope so, but given that this will be for occasional use only I don't need something that will withstand sun all day every day. Just for a week or two at most every now and then I need to work on the other car.

Didn't know Summit sold covers, thanks! I'll have to look through these.

I'd definitely prefer one made to fit the car by design and with a cable lock so it doesn't fly off in the wind and doesn't flap around wildly and beat against the car - though I understand that's unavoidable, but she is a six footer and not a show car anyway. I had mirror pockets on my Challenger's car cover and that helped a lot with getting it on and having it stay on. I'll have to see if that brand is around for Firebird... It's available for my C8, it's called MaxTech and I'm about to order that for the same reason, I have interior work to do on the Firebird and that will sit outside for a bit and I have the same concern for privacy and temporary protection. Not like either car is easy to steal especially if I leave the battery out while it's outside, but defense in depth is the key to success!
