Does anyone know what will remove overspray and some paint from tires? I had painted my rims gloss black however i get get some overspray and with military equipment with bad actors i unfortunetely ran into overspray issue. I dont want to remove the oil from the tires and dryout the tires.
Scrubbing will work, but you can also use mineral spirits. This will not hurt the rubber, I've been using it for years to keep the raised white letters clean on my '71, but it will leave them looking a bit gray or ash colored until you apply some tire dressing.
I use mineral spirits, not "usp". Here is what I have used for many years, the tires in question are from 2009 and I've been using this product to clean the white letter portion of the sidewall forever; it hasn't caused them to fail yet:

Yes, always in the garage. In fact, it's rarely on the road or outside until after the height of daytime sun as I usually take it to late afternoon or evening car shows only. Same for my '98, which actually has even older tires (they will be 21 this year) which also haven't cracked. The tires on my '74 are the oldest at 25 years old, and they are just starting to crack so I will be replacing them in the spring when the car comes out of storage.
