Default Gauge "cluster" idea

Hey guys, tell me what you think about this. I was considering placing the three gauges (Water, Oil and Trans) in the 3 vents in the center console....well driving home tonight (it was damn cold) yet i refused to put on the T's and the windows....i realized that i don't want to sacrifice those vents. So i was thinking...where the HV/AC unit is, where the ***** are...i was contemplating removihg this...and re-locating it to either the glove box or in the center console...in the place with the arm lid. I know it would require some fab, and some re-wiring and extension wiring, but i think if it wouild be possible...that that could and would look rather stealthy, and very cool. Please let me know what you think. I don't want to do the pillar pods, and i'm not going to sacrifice the vents... ( i have a '94 Firehawk)

Thanks guys...

Tris

it is very possible. Just have to extend/lenghten the wires before the safety clips going into the HVAC controls, and run them under the console... then just have to do some custom glassing in order to make a mounting place for the controls, and then some glass to do the custom pod for the new gauges up front. Not to hard, and would be a great mod. Good luck

Fabricator: Thanks alot for the great ideas...do you think you could go into a little more detail onto how this could be done....i really do want to try this, becasue i think this will look really nice. I was thinking about doing the 3 gauges on a black metal plate in place of the HV/AC plate....and about re-locating the controls to the console compartment, do you think you could please give me a few ideas, as to how to do this....i would still like to retain SOME storage space if possibe....should i just keep the entire assemble together, and just mount that somehow...or how shlud i do this....please, and help will be very much appreciated!!!

there was someone who did the in the stereo section with a camaro. put a screen in the stereo area and the HU where the HVAC was and the HVAC controls in the glove box. The glove box needs to be cut at the back and the cable for the fan control will not reach the center console. You would need to have a longer one made. I toyed with this idea for a while but decided I didn't want an 8" screen in my dash...

oh I also made a fiberglass gauge cage for the HVAC area and it could only fit the 2" gauges if I remember correctly.. it's been awhile....
