Thanks everyone.....you too Steve (clamps are another story).....

A quick rundown on the process, and it's not a real fast one, it's not that hard to do, but it's alot of work all by hand, and airbrush.......

What the pictures show are OEM grilles coated with Alsa Corp's "MirraChrome", you can check out the web site if you want to see some videos. This is all professional grade, body shop type paint, not stuff in a can, therefore I wear a mask, gloves and googles to stand the fumes and overspray, all this is applied by airbrush, and not a cheap one at that!.....

I start with new OEM grilles (SS's are $44 a unit, TA's are $33 a unit set....Base Cost), base coat with Gloss Black at a ratio of 1:1 with a reducer, then top with a REAL Clear Coat at 4:1 ratio of hardener....let cure for 7-10 days, Wet sand with 2000 grit which now I know isn't needed (found out the hard way, but it was in the instuctions so not my fault), Coat with MirraChrome and let dry for 24-48 hrs, polish by hand with cotton ***** and Q-tips to get the overspray off (yea, thats right, every single hole) then a top coat of Clear.....which the 5 SS grilles that I have available still need.....

The results are what you see in the pics, brillant, shiny Chrome look....the company lit says 95-98% reflectivity of real Chrome, it won best coating at SEMA in 2003....and I can tell you, it kills my Afterthought's 3 year old grille, but in all fairness to them it is 3 years old and was vapor deposited......

So I've invested $330 for the paint, $325 for the airbrush and $300 for the first order grilles, the hole in the market for these was there, so I think I've found an answer.......that is if everyone wants Chrome grilles, gills, whatever.....more feedback would be appreciated. As for the first 5 SS grilles, I'll will post in the "for sale" section as soon as the clear coat is on and dry, unfortunatly the "right hander" TA grille met the fate of the wet sand and is not sellable....I'll have to start over, a costly lesson but will help me for the future since they present some unique challenges.

So thats it, thanks for the responses so far, I'm glad you like them......oh, and yes, you can Chrome FRC's, hood shocks, ASR covers, fuse covers, front Facia supports, ect, ect, ect......it has alot of potential......

Wow, those look great! No nostrils on my car though...

I was watching Rides With Funkmaster Flex this afternoon, and they briefly mentioned this process on the show. They "chromed" a toy football for Donovan McNabb.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.......it helps keep me focused even with the set backs.......

I re-did the first set of grilles with an even better result on the chrome, but, I'm having an issue with the final clear coat........

I'll keep everyone updated with version 1.5........but at the moment I'm not doing any "new" ones untill I get this resolved...
