Default Kit to Buy For PC 7336

I just picked one up for 100 at Lowes, and was wondering if there was a general consensus on a complete kit of pads and products to use with it? Searching seemed to confuse me more than anything! I use Zaino right now, and don't know if I want to top it, and am more concerned at this point with all the prep products Meguires offers and the different pads I need. Thanks!

I suggest Sonus or Lake Country pads and Menzerna or Einzett polishes.

Are those finishing polishes or prep compounds? I honestly do not know what I need to use to get up to the steps to reapply Zaino.

Each brand makes different grades of polishes.

Sonus Pad Kit
These are just what you are looking for. I have them and absolutly love them They are better made than the Lake County brand pads.
For polish To use before Zaino should be carnuaba free (So 1Z metallic polish is out) I would recommend Sonus new brand of polishes, Meguairs Prof. line, or Menzerna.

Bone - Assuming you have a velcro backing plate (I don't believe the 7336 comes with one), then all you need is a kit like the sonus pad kit. If you don't have the velcro backing plate, you can get one here http://www.properautocare.com/flbaplfordup.html - they also carry a huge selection of Lake Country pads, which are also excellent pads (I use these pads)

As far as polishes, you will want to try out Menzerna Polishes (Intensive Polish and Final Polish II), or Einzsett Polishes.

Since I've used Menzerna, I'll give you the information on that.

Polish with Intensive Polish on an orange Lake Country pad (tutorial on properautocare.com), remove polish residue with 50/50 alcohol/water, Polish with Final Polish II on a yellow or a white Lake Country pad (tutorial on properautocare.com), remove polish residue with 50/50 alcohol/water. Then feel free to do your usual Zaino procedure. One IMPORTANT note - DO NOT DAWN WASH prior to applying your Zaino. You go DIRECTLY from your Final Polish II removal (with 50/50 alcohol/water) to your zaino application (I'm assuming Z5).

I don't want to rob the thread but I have a relative question.

I have been using Meguiar's pads with good success. I think the Sonus pads are of a concave design and I've seen others with a waffle design. What is the benefit of these designs??

The concave design helps reduce splattering. When you start the polisher up, the concavity keeps the polish/wax/whatever material you are applying from splattering everywhere.

Not sure about the waffle pads, as I've never seen or used them.

My 7336 only came with a 6 inch sanding pad/6 inch polishing waxing/pad, thus I will need the backing plate like SuperBuick said, correct? Is there a consensus on which is better, Menzerna or Einszett? Also, are these more like prep compounds that you top with Zaino, or what?

Yes, you will need the backing plate. Not sure which is better, but I have used Menzerna with great success. These are true polishes, not all-in-one polish/wax products, so you will need to follow these with a good sealant or wax. Zaino, Blackfire, Klasse all-in-one, or Meguiars NXT all work great.

Here is what Einszett Paint Polish, and Metallic polishes using the Sonus pads can do to remove swirls on a black car.

When polishing set the PC speed at 4 to begin working the polish, then as it starts to dry crank the spped up to 5 or 6 and buuf until most of the polish is gone and just shiney paint shows, then wipe off remaining polish.
This fender took me about 10 minutes from swirls to PERFECT!

do they make those type of pads with elastic? My buffer uses elastic pads and I would like to try those out.

I would suggest investing in a quality buffer like a Porter Cable. Buffers requiring bonnets generally don't have enough power to make a difference with the polish.
