I basically did the same thing, only I already had the polisher. Zaino is a wonderful sealant and I personally like what it does on dark cars. However, once you start using the right process, you start looking at other dark colored cars and noticing all those swirls. There's a difference between "clean" and "shiny". Now you know what it is.

Another vote for Menzerna + Porter Cable!
I do my Black WS6 2X/year with the Intensive Polish - then the Final Polish - then wax with Formula 113.
The finish comes out like a mirror with NO swirl marks. Much better than the multi-step Zaino process and also less $$. I've been using the Menzerna for some time now even though Zaino was supposed to be the next best thing to buttered bread.
You just have to be sure to have the correct pads/speed setting & the rest is easy. Got all my Menzerna products from Proper Auto Care.

I can't wait.
My PC is supposed to arrive tomorrow with some different types of compound and polishes. I can run a high speed pretty well but I wet sanded and buffed my black 98 and old paint is hard to buff back out because of being so hard so Im gonna try to knock some of the light swirls out with the PC. It looks good now but I believe if I can get some of the light swirls out the depth of the paint will look endless.
