Default Appearance of FIKSE FM5's

So my rims are getting refinished/powdercoated. I'm powdercoating the center of the rim black and machine polishing the lips. I'm trying to decide if I want to powdercoat the center caps completely, or leave the FIKSE FORGED part aluminum and have the rest black.

Here is a couple pics:

And in the cap pics you can see the article with the rims completely black.

I would keep the engraving in the center cap aluminum if that is possible.

That is what I want to do, but can't decide. It's either that, or powdercoat them black along with the rest of the center of the rim. Anyone good at photochop?

Tape off the lettering, then powdercoat.

I did a little experiment tonight. I took some spray mask and coated the parts of the center caps that I didn't want painted. I then just sprayed a glossy black out of a spray can on the caps to see what it would look like. I removed the mask from the letters to see what it would look like and here are the results:

Wow, that really turned out good. So how exactly did you mask the letters with such precision?

It is a body mask. Lots of autobody shops use it to cover a vehicle. You spray it on the vehicle, let it dry, do your work(sand, prep, paint, clear, buff) and then when you wash the car the mask comes off. It creates a barrier so you don't get overspray on vehicles. It is like a temporary clear coat.

Since I work for Sikkens Car Refinishing, I took a little bit and used a pencil brush and filled in the lettering. I wiped off an excess before I sprayed the pieces.

I would do the entire centers in black, 'cause everyone doesn't have to know that they're Fikses. Just my opinion. If you want to flaunt it, though, by all means- they're yours to flaunt.

Those rims should be finished tomorrow, so I'll take some pics of the rims and the centercaps to see which looks best.

I'm not worried about someone stealing them. I hardly ever drive the car because my garage would get lonely without it..

lol. I say do just the opposite. Altho it may be too late, I think leaving the centers polished like the lips would be a nice contrast to the rim, and having the entire Fikse and Forged in black would be enough. But either way, I dont think you can go wrong.
