Default PC DA Buffer

Well finally ordered my Porter Cable Buffer yesterday and the Menzerna Intense polish. Should be here tomorrow or the next day. Looking forward to the weekend and getting to polish on the car. She's a dirty little girl right now, cause it's been pouring around here the last few weeks when I've had any free time. Any tips or info you guys could share would be great.

I wouldn't give you any pointers...you'll have to find what works for you. If you read any of the good writeups on the PC (like on autopia under the "Learn" section), that will get you in the right ball park. Aside from dropping the machine on your paint, it is next to impossible to do anything but make it look better.

I think that it's 2-polishing pads and 2-finishing pads. Not sure right off hand. Just ordered the entire package from CMA.

The pads that come with the kit have velcro backing. Your PC doesn't come with the attachment you need. You need to order a 5" backing plate with velcro to use those pads.

Straight from Proper Auto Care's website....We supply this polisher with a professional, Flexible 6 inch Velcro Backing Plate for quick pad changes and one Constant Pressure, 6 inch White Polishing Pad for general polishing and waxing. These do not come with the basic machine from Porter Cable.

That will probably work, but for best results with the Intensive Polish, you should pick up one of their orange pads. It has a little more cut to it and works great with IP. The white pad has less cut and works best with finer finishing polishes.

Just my $0.02.

This PAD-KIT includes:
  • One 6 inch Hi-Gloss Orange Power Pad. Use this with a compound (like Menzerna Intensive Polish) to remove swirls, minor scratches and paint defects.
  • Two 6 inch Hi-Gloss White Polishing Pads. Use these pads with a polish (like Menzerna Final Polish II) to maximize surface gloss and prepare the paint for the final wax or sealant. Polishing pads will "cake" with residues during polishing making them ineffective. It typically requires two pads to polish the average size car.
  • One Hi-Gloss Red Concours Finishing Pad. Use this pad to apply the final liquid wax or paint sealant.
  • Three Microfiber Buffing Cloths. Use these to remove compound, polish and wax residues.

That's a good setup. You shouldn't have any problems making a big difference.
