the rksport hood only has a carbon fiber top, the rest is fiberglass, don't know if that matters to you or not though

To give a VFN example a stock T/A hood non ram air pin on hood in glass is 11 lbs. The same CF hood is 8 or 9 pounds per VFN. It is also double the price. Not a great price to weight savings ratio unless you have an all out 7 sec type race car.

Not sure who you talked to, it may have been a while ago, because now that stock flat firebird hood would be around 5 pounds in carbon fiber.. but the glass hood still would be around 11 pounds, so Its extremely light as is.
the cost is a little more than double, so those are definately things to think about before ordering one.

DG Motorsports makes a pretty nice hood. Pricey, though.

Maybe it's just the lighting, but isn't carbon fiber black? Or has this been prepped already?

don't get mine confused with the import style where you see the pattern. it comes pre-prepped from VFN, but still needs final prep before it gets painted. they also have the other style, which is like a glossy black and silvery cross pattern that looks like what c/f interior trim usually looks like.
