Default Run 70w Bulbs In These Fog Lights?

Got these at Advanced Auto. Yeah I know they're APC and rice. But they're the closest size to stock fog lights I could find anywhere, even on the net. 4-3/8" diameter. No don't plan on hooking up the angel eyes or halos on them. Just wanted something to fill the T/A bumper hole up.

Anyways, e-mailed APC and they said they use 55 watts because anything higher could melt the housing and lense. They have metal housings and glass lenses, so I think I should have no problem running 70w bulbs in them. Anyone think I'm right or wrong? Just wanted to get more opinions on if they'll hold up before I install them.

THANKS!!!

I have a hard time believing that 70 watts can melt a metal housing, especially coming from APC. I think you'll be fine. Let us know how they look to, I've been wanting some brite white fogs to match my silverstars.

I agree with you. I can maybe see them getting warm, hell most housing I"m sure do get warm with 70+ watt bulbs.. I know my headlights do and they're 70w.

Anyways, thanks for the input. I'm planning on installing these tonight, so it'll be dark when I'm done and I'll snap so pics to show you and anyone else. They look identical to the stock ones, so should be straight forward. Probably will hook up the halo's temporary, just to take a few pics... Maybe..

70W will melt the housing. I learned that the hard way.

With stock plastic housing or aftermarket metal/glass housings?

Whew! These are aftermarket, but I was kinda worried for a second there! Plus I just installed them!

All went well with the install except these didn't have a SPDT relay. I had one laying around, but it was bad... It works, but not if you shake it. Oh well, got to get a new one tomorrrow. They look good and fit nicely and light up like no one's business!! Can't wait to try them on the road! 70w lows, 100w highs, and 70w fogs... I'm gonna have decent light output finally! I'm pumped!
