Question Want to polish A/C evap Question

Should I buy a new evaporator and have it polished? Or will the stock one be ok to remove and re-install. A few people have told me that a used one will draw in moisture from the atmosphere and could potentially harm the A/C system. So whatcha think?

Polish what ya got. You don't ned to take it out to polish. Unbolt the clsmp and there should be enough slack in the hoses to get all the way around. Take your time and it will look great.

Blue Magic and a rag will do wonders.

I already have other parts that were professionally polished. I really just want to take it off and have them do it. I want all the work to be the same quality.

You really need to have it off to do it properly BUT you will discharge the AC.
Blue Magic will not do it alone...it is an after polishing maintainer..

Todd2001SS- What did you use to polish that baby, it looks amazing. Did you just use some polish stuff on it?

So if you take it off you will not hurt anything? All you will do is discharge the A.C.? What does it cost to get the A.C. recharged? Thank you for your help.

On mine one of the ac lines below rubbed on my supcharger crank pulley and dis charged the system. I never had a desire to have it charged so I could polish it easily. I am thinking like anywhere from $100-300 at the dealer.

It is also necessary to remove the dash to get hvac module out. Then take the module apart to remove the evaporator. Way easier to polish the refrigeration lines running from the evap to the dryer.

I should have known that you'd respond to this one, the word polish is somewhere in the thread. I didn't know you wanted Todd's quality of polish , you definately can't do that good of a job in the car or with anything you just rub on and off.

Here is a pic of mine. I went from 220-400-800-1000-1500 wet sanding. Then I applied mother's billet polish by hand until it started turning black, then I used the dremel to buff it out. Here are the results, and This was done on the car.

Now, can you run the AC without it turning to **** again? Or is it pretty much going to stay like that with a little touch up here and there?
