Default Gauge cluster swap???

I was about to buy a gauge cluster off ebay... it came off a 01 Formula Firehawk. Looks the same as my 98...but the guy said it won't work. Any idea what gauge clusters will work w/ what years??

no 1998s are NOT the same, they have a working temp gauge and a different wiring harness going to them.

You can swap 99-02 around, but 98's MUST only be used on a 98 vehicle, or damage will occur (im fairly sure a 98 cluster in a 99 car = smoke, but it could be the other way, either way, it is a bad idea to swap anything with a 98 to a 99+

early production 97 cars made in 96 had the old clusters, where the new ones made in jan 97 and newer have the digital readout.

The 98 models have different wiring harnesses than the 99-02 models do. After the first year of production of the LS1 camaro/firebird, they decided to make some changes to better the car.

allright new question... will a 97 cluster w/ the digital readout work on my 98? i'm thinking it will because the 200mph clusters that granatelli sells are sold for either the 97-98 or 99-02, this makes me think the 97 and 98's are interchangable and so are the 99-02's.

I think it may work. Just not the '97 to '99 conversion. I would call Granatelli and ask them to make sure their data is correct. They would know more about this than most in here would.

well the dash was all tore up, mainly from cracking in the pad and someone trying to steal the radio. someone trying to steal the steering wheel, someone trying to steel the pedals, someone trying to steal the fuses. i dotn know. but its tore to hell so i decided it would be best to upgrade while im replacing. so im going for the 97up dash. and sorry i got a camaro. i dont know if the T/A would work. if it will i may be interested. ill keep you in mind if i figure that out. thanks
