For those SS owners with their hood scoop filled
I am looking at filling my hood scoop with a black decal. I do not want to paint it and I was wondering if there is a best one on the market I should get. Does the sun fade it at all? Is it easy to apply?

I saw the one at Afterthoughts Auto. That is exactly what I want, but I want to know if it fades at all. My car is my daily driver and I do not have a garage to park it in, so it sits out in the sun with no shade. I don't want to have to replace this thing every year.

Good outdoor vinyl should last 5-7 years outside in the sun, from what I've read, just see what type of vinyl they use. The duration they last is how they name them usually.
I wouldn't recommend installing it yourself, if it's the manta stripe your talking about that covers the top, it's really hard to install.

Oh no, it is not the Manta. I have read horror stories on self-installation of those. It is just the scoop fill like the 35th came from the factory. It looks like Afterthoughts will be getting my business. Also, any prep to the area before I put it on?

Wonder how that would look on a black car? Would it be pointless? Anyone got that on a black car with pics? That area on my car has some serious scratches on it, and this would fix that problem till the car gets a repaint.

If you get different install directions from them use those different decals have to be put on different ways.
DO NOT use a pressure washer or carwash until it has stuck on well I give any decals I put on my car about 2 hot/warm days before washing my car.

Yeah, that's kinda what i was thinking!? You just reminded me of the black Mach 1 that i saw a couple weeks ago, belongs to the Sheriff's office. Looks pretty sweet on the Mach 1. I'm trying to keep color out of my front end. Trying to figure a color scheme to go with the black, till then i'm thinking i'm gonna go with the black scoop fill.
Sorry 007SS, didn' mean to jack your thread.

Just keep the decal waxed if you are worried about it. A Novi polish will bring back color if it ever fades. They are fairly easy to install as well. I have an extra somewhere but I can't find it...
