it's completely ignorant to deem it a waste of time and money...it's purely opinion and people grow just as attached to lt1s as hey do the Ls1 cars...he's obviosuly concerned about cosmetic appearance and not performance when it comes to a mod like this...so if u wanna do it go for it-they do look better...

and the whole "save up and upgrade" comments...why dont you guys sell you LS1 fbodys and get a vette? they're only a couple thousand more...you'll be glad you did...

So your LT1 with only an exhaust would smoke your friend's HCI LS1 if he wasn't squeezing? Something there isn't right. Either way that information wasn't worth bumping this old thread.

If you sell your front end and spend a few hundred, you can almost completely cover the conversion if you don't get a ram air hood.

i still think you should just buy a 98+

the LT1 engine has too many problems and it doesnt make as much power as the LS1.

sell your LT1, buy an LS1. Done. I'm so glad I never wasted the effort on this conversion when I had my F-bodies. Now if I got a car for almost nothing, then it MIGHT be worth it. Still, looking back a 97 should look like a 97, and a 98 should look like a 98

Im gonna disagree with you on that one. I don't think its worth the effort of selling an LT1 and adding a few grand to what you make off of it in order to gain 50 hp. I'd much rather mod the LT, but either way, having a T/A is enough for me.

98+ advantages

- Aluminum Block/Aluminum Heads
- 50+HP
- Composite Intake Manifold
- Better looking body (98+ body styling)
- Better looking, more comfortable seats
- Doesn't have distributor/water pump issues LT1 cars had.

That 50HP is a big difference. I went from a 97 TA to a 2001 WS6. Big difference.

Its all a matter of opinion really! I did the conversion on my car only cost me parts and i did all the work myself including paint! I owned my lt1 since 2000 and it only has 48k miles that was never beat on and i haven't had any issues with water pump or any other stuff. Yes the ls1 is a better motor but not everyone is all into how much more power you gain etc. I love my car with just bolt ons it certainly isn't the fastest car but its a fun car! I actually plan on going back to lt1 front end! Kind of tired of people talking so much s**t about the ls1's! We all have camaros so i respect anyone that has one regardless if its lt1 or ls1!

Your car looks great man. IMO keep the ls1 style. And get a turbo kit. Show them LSs whos boss!
