Default Bonnets fro 7424

I recently bought a Porter Cable 7424. It came with one foam pad and I was able to use my existing (some were brand new) 6" bonnets. After just a few uses the foam seperated from the rubber backer.

What should I use for polishing and buffing with the 7424? Mainly for polishing with say medium cut, fine cut and then Finesse it. After that I'll glaze and wax.

Don't know if this is a sponsor link or not, ..., probably not, ...

I've recently purchased from them & used the orange, white, & blue pads on my black car with excellent results.

That website has lots of additional information also!

you need a 6" backing plate for those pads.

you can find it on that site or many others like properautocare.com autogeek.net etc

no sponsor links, but there arent any sponsors here dealing with such products, so i see no problem

might try some 6" pads too, (as in 6" contoured), with a 5" plate. I'm thinking of getting some soon, but need to get a little more info from ZaneO before I do that... I believe thats what he runs.
I'm running the 6" plate with the contoured 7.5 pads.

Yeah...that's why I posted the original question...I find all sorts of pads and backing plates, but I'd like to only buy what I need, not a sample of someone's entire lineup!!

I haven't ordered anythign yet...hopefully we'll get some more answeres in here.

I think the 7.5" contoured pads and a 6" backing plate would be perfect, its what alot of people use.

I just thought of those as a suggestion, but the 7.5s should be fine. I'm going with lakecountry pads from pakshak.com most probably. Forgot to mention them originally, customer service and pricing is the best I've found.

Thanks.

So far I've just used the foam pad that came with the 7424, a wool bonnet and some terry cloth bonnets that I had. I started with 3M medium cut on the surfaces needing more work and then went to 3M fine cut. I followed up on the entire car with 3M finesse it, then Meguiar's glaze and two coats of NXT wax. The car looks great, who said you can't get depth out of white

I took some pictures last night that show how deep and wet white can be (like the killer shot above ) I don't have anyway of hosting them so I can link to them here though.
But, I'm happy
