I wonder why it is that the Mustang crowd has everything, and we get the short end of the stick when it comes to customising our interior tastefully. It's easy to make your interior "custom" but it looks like you bought a rattle can and went to town. I think it's safe to say that alot of us would like out interiors more custmoized, but look like stock at the same time. I would love to get rid of the cup holders, ashtray, and the "cubby hole" but everything i've seen has looked like it was aftermarket. There has to be a way to fill in all of those things and make it look like factory.

I got an idea I am going to start working on that I think you'll like. I'm going to buy another console tomorrow to start fabricating.

I dont know if you noticed the dates in those threads but some of them are 2-3 years old. LS1Tech has changed formats since then and the old tags dont work. Just copy the link in the tags and paste it into a new browser window. Also, since they are old threads, no all of the images will be available anymore. Some of the pics are still available though (I tried the copy-and-paste trick and it worked for some).

i glued some plastic in the holes and then filled them with body filler. after a lot of sanding and smoothing i painted them with interior paint that looks just like the factory plastic. if anyone needs any detailed instructions or other help just shoot me a pm

I did fill mine,, all i did was cut out the whole cup holder as one, and then fiberglassed it from the inside.. couple sand jobs anthe whole piece is nice and smooth.. color matched white to my car with the "eurapean" shift plate and that console looks 100 times better.........try to get you guys some pics............

What do you guys think of this? I modeled this piece that would sit over the space and it could have some little "eye brackets" on the side that would allow it to swivel up and down so you could still use the space, but you could close this piece to cover the hole. I got some quotes for plastic pieces and to actually go into production would cost about $8~9K I doubt there is enough potential buyers out there to even justify going thru with it IMO. A novel idea FWIW I guess...

I would be interested in one, but for that kind of start up cost. Tough one.

I also modified the front where the ash tray once was so he could put guages or switches up there too...

If you can make one of those for an M6, shoot me a price.

If you plan to fill with resin, bondo, or whatever... I'd suggest getting a spare one from a junkyard to work on (since you'll be painting it afterwards anyway) so you wont ruin the one you have now. Plus you can work on it in your spare time w/o having your car torn apart.
