Default applying claybar questions

With claybar, do you only use it on grime spots you see, or rub every inch of the finish? Seems like it would take forever. Do you lay the bar down flat and slide it or do you use the edge or what. I read something about turning to a clean part of clay constantly or something like that. The grime only builds up on the edge maybe? I want to make sure I get it right. About how long should I plan for it to take?

I clay every inch of the exterior of the car. There really shouldnt be any 'grime' spots, because you should give the car a good bath beforehand. Yes, you want to turn the clay in your hand ever sq/ft or so

1. wash & dry the car
2. clay the car using meguires quick detailer or something similar. clay the car in small sections, use a micro fiber towel to dry the area you just clayed. yes, you do want to turn the clay periodically, in fact just start pulling it apart (kneeding) and reshape it often, kinda like silly putty. claying will take a good hour/ hour & half. DO NOT DROP THE CLAY ON THE GROUND because it will pick up small pebbles, sand, dirt, etc.
3. make sure you put down some type of wax/ polish afterwards
4. enjoy the silky smooth shine

The idea of claybaring is that it removes the harmful paint contaminates (chemicals in the air) that regular washing, waxing does not.

This is the order in which you do it- Good Wash, Clay bar every part of your car (you don't have to rub the crap out of it, just a nice thurough slide, and MAKE SURE you keep the area lubed/wet.) then wax to seal the car.

When claybaring work one section at a time i.e- spray one door, claybar, spray one quarter panel, claybar etc. Stuff is awesome and leaves yous finish feeling like silk.

When using the lubricant you wipe off the excess lube after it hazes over-just as you would with wax. This is why you may also see people use soapy water, it keeps from any of this stuff staying on the car-I had to wash it 2wice because i forgot to wipe it off so once i rinsed it STAYED- extra work is not fun! It's not hard to do anyways.
