Default Paint Opinions Needed

I am going to be repainting my car soon and want some opinions on what to do. Right now it's pewter, and as much as I like the color, I want something with some flash, something unique. Almost every car I've owned before this was black and I like the way black shines, but it's too plain. I'm not opposed to a two-tone paint job, but would prefer to stay away from flames. So post up what color or color combinations you think would look good on a formula, something that would make YOU turn your head and say... nice ride.

Here's what it looks like now

TIA!

Heh!!! my exhaust makes people turn and say nice car

I will repaint soon also and I will keep the pewter...

Two tone would be cool if you get the right combo.

I have always noticed that a clean (nicely done) car whatever color it may be will attract more positive attention than an overly flashy car. Since Trans Ams dont have a crisp body line like a Cadillac CTS for example a true two tone paint job would look a bit off, If you want to paint your car anyways I would pick a main body color and than pick an accent color to highlight the unique lines of Formys, much like this guy did:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/307981-could-car-make-cover-gm-high-hech-hpp.html
This is how I would go about choosing a new paint color for my car;
I would start by looking at the various paint colors/schemes on cars at places like a Cadillac, Mercedes, BMW, Audi dealerships. This will help give you an idea of what colors you do like, since they usually have a large selection of cars with high quality paint. Once you find a color that you do like for the main body color, pick up a color wheel, they use them in art classes, and find either a complementary or split complementary color that you think would look good as an accent. Good Luck!

I think if you want to go two-tone, it'd be best to follow the lines of the car like the yellow one posted by Zeeman. I also like the combination of yellow and black, though the color combo is a very personal decision. I'd go with a citrus (orange,yellow,red-orange) or blue base, though. I think they are the ones that complement the look of these cars the best, and there's alot of very nice non-stock colors to choose from.

I agree, the engine and exhaust will make people turn, but I want the paint to go along with it.

I agree with this as well, I am just looking at all idea's. The reason I mention two-tone was to avoid painting the engine bay and door jams, but I'm not opposed to doing those either.

ZEEMAN - That is a great looking car, the only thing that isn't my taste is how the black is brought to a point.

Tech - Not exactly my taste but your PS skills are pretty slick! I may have to ask you to try something else if you don't mind. Thanks!

Kyle, you know this isn't going to be an easy decision bro... way to many choices out there. Like we talked about last night, you've got me beat with the looks, but I'll still be faster.

Thanks for all the input guys, definitely keep it coming. This isn't an easy decision to make that's for sure. I'll check out some other colors and do some PS work myself and post up some choices later. Thanks again!

What about something more subtle, maybe like some gunmetal stripes painted over the tops of the WS6 hood and maybe gunmetal on the front bird emblem?

I think that's one of the reasons Formulas are so incredibly appealing: Less is more with them. They keep it simple.

I understand you wanting to spice it up a bit, but I don't think you should go too far with it. So my suggestion is some gunmetal stripes over the hood, or maybe some gunmetal blackbird stripes. Then maybe a polished rear filler panel with some nice chrome rims. I know that it would most definitely make me turn my head and say "Hey! Sharp Formy!!!!"

I plan to do touch up on my pewter Z soon also. Personally I would stay with the pewter but I am planning to have a translucent color like a gold, red or blue pearl shot in the clear coat. I've been told that chromealusion shot in a clear coat is awesome!
