Default Bondo question

I am helping a neighbor fix some dents on his beater. We mixed the bondo and hardener and let sit over night. When we went to sand, the bondo was not hard. It had a rubbery consistency and kind of gummed up when we sanded it.

I have never used bondo. What caused this problem?

what kind of bondo did you use, how much hardner? Make sure you mix it up good. Thats a big thing. I think that is possibly your problem.

I KNOW you didnt use enough hardener. lolol. For about a 5" x 5" pile of bondo you need to use about a 4" line of the hardener.

rule of thumb for bondo....pea size amount of hardner for a apple size amount of bondo and make sure you fold it over and over, dont stir it............if you put to much hardner, u jus will loose out on play time with it, so dont be scared of using more hardner..............

doesn't really matter if you stir it or not as long as you get it mixed up.

do not stir it, it will trap air in the bondo and cause the paint to cave in after time
