Calling Wax Experts! I have noticed by reading some of these threads that some people use multiple upon multiple coats of wax.Does that make a difference?I usually use 3M liquid polish (1 coat) Then follow with 3M liquid wax (1 coat).Should I be doing more coats?
I'm definitely no expert, but to give a quick response here's my input...
Some waxes are able to layer. These waxes are normally Zaino or a pure carnuba wax with NO abrasives (abrasives will remove a little of the previous layer). As far as it having a true difference, definitely. Some people say their car's paint will "pop" out at them after a few coats of pure wax. I use Meguiar's Gold Class Top Coat Carnuba Wax, there's a huge difference between the three coats I do compared to the one coat that I used to do. One coat would be slick and shiny, but three coats I could drive through thunderstorms and get home with a perfectly clean car because the rain just fell right off. I've never invested in Zaino because although people go on and on about durability, when I wax my car 3 times a week, I'm not that worried about durability.

Not that much, no matter what condition and quality of the car, if you use a quality wax that layers and you do a few layers, then it's going to make the paint look better. Now, I wouldn't say that 10 layers is going to look better than 5, that's just obsessive. But, a few layers compared to one does make a difference.
like stated above, i would say that any wax (or sealant) that isn't abrasive could probably be layered. i am also by no means an expert, but i have always used zaino on my car and have layered it. nothing crazy like 10+ coats but i have noticed that 2 or 3 coats as opposed to 1 coat has a little deeper shine to it. but that is just my opinion.

Verdad Gallardo The best way to find out is to try it and find out. I never thought of layering my Meguiar's Gold Class wax, I just dusted my car and waxed it out of boredom, but then the 2nd layer went on so much easier and came off like nothing and it left hte car so much more silky smooth and glossy that I just got hooked to doing it like 3 times a week.
