Default painting the calipers

Is it ok to paint them, put on the decals, and spray on some clear all in one day?

I've done my calipars all in one day. As long as you start early enough and allow enought time to go by in between coats I don't see a problem.

yep. No problem. Do yourself a favor and get the Duplicolor caliper brush on paint. I've done 3 cars so far and use to paint them with spray paint. I thought the brush ceramic would suck but tried it on my SS. Its awesome. For one thing you odnt have to tape all the crap up and worry about overspray. Also with spray paint you never get it real glossy and it always will hold dirt and brake dust. With the brush on ceramic caliper paint it just washes right off. I can emai lyou some pics if you like.

I used the G2 caliper kit. Its a brush on that acts a lot like 2 part epoxy. You mix the paint and the activator together and then brush it on. Completed the project (with decals) a few hours later. No brush lines or anything.

Yeah the brush on stuff isnt as bad as it seems to be, no brush marks and it gets a glossy easy-to-clean surface.

This also is the G2 brush on epoxy. Decals, with NO clearcoat. I'll use this stuff again and again.

Pay the few extra bucks for the G2, its worth it. I didn't use clear coat on mine after the G2 and it still shines all the time (agreed on the easy to clean).

I did mine in 1 day and I put on 4 coats of paint. I baked the last coat with a hair dryer. I used the Duplicolor 500 degree clear coat, VHT Racing Red 900 degree paint, and Duplicolor 500 degree primer. I used spray paint, I like it a lot better that the brush. Pics are not great, but I have some on my webshots link in sig.

I used duplicolor engine enamel (Ford Red) and brushed it on with a soft bristle painters brush. No brush marks whatsoever and it looks great. I did both my girls and my calipers and they've held up great for almost a year. There's really no need to spend $20 bucks on a kit when you can buy a can of base and clear and a paint brush for about 8 bucks.

Sorry, missed a step. i sprayed the paint directly into a styrofoam cup. Dipped the brush in and painted just like you would anything else. Works great.

whats a good process if you actually remove the calipers. Ill be doing my brakes/rotors soon and figure i can just remove the calipers and spray. What products work well for that?

Spraying spraypaint in a cup would work a lot better than spraying it on. You would save lots of masking time in the process. I just wish I would have done that. I also used the engine enamel and the results are basically the same as caliper paint, so I wouldn't buy a kit. I used ford blue for mine and it turned out fine, but as for your original question, I'd brush it on since you'll spend most time masking if you spray it. Then you'll be able to paint, decal and clear all in one day.

I just did a web search and ordered from the cheapest supplier. I don't know if any of the sponsors sell the kit or not.

I took my calipars off the second time I painted them and it was a PITA. I say just leave them connected and paint them I unbolted them and propped them up so I could paint. Worked out pretty well. When I pulled them off completely I had a hard time getting them back on and keeping them from leaking. Then the brake fluid messed up some of the paint
