Default Someone Hit My car!

Ok so some guy hit my car today. He did $4400.00 in damage! He barely toched it but did enough to have to replace the front end, drivers side head light and the hood. The stock SS hood replacement cost is over $1900.00! I kid you not! So I am thinking of replacing it with a Ram Air II hood, 3 in SS hood or just a 3 in Cowl hood. What do you guys think? Is there any other hoods out there that you like for a 2001 Camaro? I would love to see links or pics. Let me know what you think.

That 4-port heat extractor hood is looking good right now. I might go with that one or a 3inch cowl.

You are devaluing your car not putting an OEM SS hood on it

I would go with a stock SS hood. If his insurance is paying for it buy a cheaper fiberglass SS hood, and spend the other money on mods. Just an idea.

If I was in your case and his insurance is paying, I wouldn't hesitate to go with the OEM SS hood.

First his insurance isn't paying for it, he is out of pocket. I was thinking of changing the hood before and now is just the perfect time. I can get the hood I want (which ever one that is) and save some money for performance.

Just a note for you.... aftermarket hoods don't have to go through the same sort of testing that an OEM hood has to go through for crash test approval. OEM hoods crumple to a degree..... most after market ones wont.

It has happened on the GP forums at least once, an aftermarket hood not crumpling, so the hood struts/brackets sheared off and went backward and broke the windshield. thankfully the accident wasn't severe enough to send the hood all the way through where the passengers could have possibly became headless cadavers.

With that being said.... 3inch SS hood!
