Looking for the plastic rear plate that goes between the Trans Am tail lights. There is a custom piece that lights up the Trans am and bird emblems when you hit your brakes ... instead of the stock piece which has the painter Trans Am logo and bird emblem painted on it.

I've seen that, but I think that the guy did it himself.

Seems like that would be a heck of a lot of work considering the fact that there is no lights behind that panel.

Well, the thing is super-easy to get off, so, this weekend, I'll take a shot at it with my dremel tool router bit . I have extra Trans Am and the bird vinyl decals I can just stick to the inside and dremel around it and run a small lamp bulb through the side. I think that will work. I already buff all the paint from the outside. I'll let everyone know if I screw it up or not. In the meantime, I'm still looking for the custom piece to buy. I saw a black TA with one and they look nice.

There is a company in Cali that will do it for you - but when I last inquired - they had not done one for a T/A as of yet, and the cost was out of this world

Thanks. I'm looking for someone who does them already. I've seen them on a couple of cars here in Florida ... still looking.

i've thought about doing this myself...... The only way i See doing it is to buy an extra one that you can replace your's with or to do the work to incase you mess up...

You will need a dremal and a be very detailed or it won't work... and just start cuting from the front. Then after it's done fill it in with a red plastic or whatever color you want.. let it harden.... then sand smooth then follow with polish.

Here is an old thread where 98 Snake Eater made a color-changeing fiber-optic bird in the filler panel between the taillights:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...98+snake+eater
The images dont appear (they show up as http addresses) because LS1 Tech has upgraded its software since then. It also appears that those pictures are no longer abailable in that location in WebShots. If you PM or email 98 Snake Eater, he can tell you more about it.

98 Snake Eater has also done pleny of LED mods (front plater cover and rear license plate lighting are two that come to mind).
