Default how do you take off the emblems?

i wanna remove the stock z28 emblems and put some older style ones on.
how do you remove the old ones while keeping them intact?

also, how do you attach the new emblems on there, i want to put the 1st gen emblems.
i plan on attaching them on the fenders, grill and back.

bunch of ways, but the easier way is to heat them up with a good hair dryer and peel them off slowly, after that you wanna folow up with it with a cleaning and wax.
THAT JUST ONE WAY OF DOING IT. there is a bunch of other ways of doin it.

if you heat it up with a hairdryer you can risk damaging your paint.

The best way is to go to a body shop and get a glue removal wheel (might take 2 for several emblems), and some heat adhesive for removing emblems, I don't remember what it's claled but you can ask them, use that to take it off and then the wheel to erase the glue thats left, without damaging your paint.

I've never heard that before. I used a hair dryer multiple time to loosen adhesive and never had a problem. If I had known that I was running the risk of screwing my paint up I never would have tried it. Oh well no harm no foul I guess.

Hair dryer and dental floss or fishing line.

When you get the new emblems you have to cut the pegs off the back if they have some, then hop on over to autozone or someplace and get some emblem adhesive weather resistant and cut it to fit the back of your emblems.

Paint can withstand a lot heat. Use a hairdryer or better yet a heat gun that you can set the temp on. Heat it up and I use dental floss to separate the emblem.

yeah i've left my car outside in 100+ degree weather many times. Doesn't bother the paint any.

Dental floss though...i'll have to try that.

A heat gun can hurt the paint but only if its on HI heat and you keep it in one spot for a long period of time. But by that time the emblem prob fell off, so you are there for your health lol

It will be next to impossible to damage your paint with a hairdryer. I work at a body shop and we have two methods for removing stickers and emblems. The first is a heat gun with two settings, 500 and 1000 degrees. The second is a heat lamp with about seven heat lamp bulbs, this method gets the vehicle so hot, it burns the hell out of your fingers when removing decals. I' ve yet to see either method damage the paint in any way.

I used 3M double sided tape. I just unrolled it, stuck the emblem to the sticky side, trimed to fit with a razor blade, peeled to backing on the other side and stuck it.

I just did mine today, only problem I encountered was my passenger side emblem was previous removed when I had the 1/4 panel replaced due to a deer months ago. The trick with the hair-dryer didnt work. I ended up using fishing line to "floss" it off. Then had my mom use her nails to scratch off the residue

The original side worked perfectly with the hair-dryer trick. I preped the area cleaning it with dishwash detergent & water, then heated it up, flossed it off, and it came right off. All i needed was some Goo-Off and some scrubing with a sponge and it cleared off. I also hit the area with wax too when I was finished. Both sides look perfect!

very nice, are you planning on putting on some of the older emblems?
did you take off the rear emblem the same way?

You can, but heating it up works better. Its like using a warm scooper vs a cold scooper to get ice cream out of the tub. Both work, but when its warm it works better.
