i just got a 99 Z28 camaro. the paint is awesome although being the midnight blue it shows everything. my question is this... when i picked it up from the dealer it looked like they waxed over water spots. so i washed them and they didnt come out. i tried to re-wax the car and they still dint come out. what can i do to get the water spots out?

My favorite water spot remedy is a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and distilled water. Water spots are caused by the minerals in water. When the water evaporates, the minerals left behind cause the stain. Distilled water is just that - pure water. The vinegar is just acidic enough to get rid of those stains. Just be sure you wax the area after, and I would suggest cleaning the area with a little soap, to get rid of the pickle smell.

using a quality clay bar will take them out withought a problem
but if the spots were on there for a while, and the clay doesnt take em out, they need to be buffed out with a high speed buffer and someone who knows what they are doing

You may have to get all the wax off the car before they'll come out. Try the dish soap and then the usual 5 step method (wash, clay, wash...optional, polish, wax). If you wax over water spots, then you basically put a layer of protection over top of them.

before you do anything rash, definitely use the distilled water and vinegar 50-50 mix.....I had horrible water spots, but this took almost all of them out.....if there are any spots left, they are barely noticable.

The 50-50 mix should be fine. It works pretty well on glass water spots also. This should help remove the wax above the spots too. Like it was stated earlier in the thread, be sure to clean and wax the area after your done.

i def would too, the reason being you should really clay your car before you wax the car, EVERYTIME
ive been a full time detailer for 5 years now, and have never once used vinegar on any customer car, let alone my own. try to get a clay bar from a detail supply company. i used to call mine before i worked at a dealership, and met them there, because they wouldnt come to my house. get a blue clay bar if you can, because the ones you get from discount auto (mothers yellow clay) are too soft and dont take out nearly as much
try to get the one that is called Clay Magic, "the magic eraser bar for your car"
my car is the same color, and it looks brand ******* new and its a 2000. it gets clayed and waxed every other week, with 1-2 washes between that time
good luck
