I did mine in 15% all around (including the windshield). I normally do 15% all around, or 35% front, 15% rear. Make sure you get a good brand name film also. Pics of my car and work in my sig

I just got mine done, and I got 30% on the sides (not sure about the rear). I was hoping the ceramic dots wouldn't cause any problems this time...but they did still cause some issues. He used a brillo pad (or something like that) to sand down the dots a little, which did help it lay down better than any of my previous TA's, but it still has some area that shows up...plus it appears to have scratched the glass a little (they're real fine though).
I wish GM would have just not put those freakin dots on the glass! Are there any companies that produce aftermarket rear glass for the Trans Am's, that don't have the dots on it?

I went ahead and cut off the section from the top defroster line up and put the black vinyl in myself, and it turned out great. My window tinter normally does an awesome job (the rear was all one piece)...it just seems impossible to cover the dots with tint, and look right. I definately recommend going the vinyl route to cover the dots.

I need new tint, but I gotta find a % thats considered "passable" tint here in NC. It sucks b/c my local shop told me they'd fail me if I went in w/ 5 on the sides and rear as its not passable. So I might go 15-20 and see what that does for me, but I really love how it looks with 5

In a sense yes, but it's the dots that give you the problem so any window with the dot matrix will prevent the tint from adhering properly, no matter the car. But take it from me and other's who have gone the vinyl route, it is far superior to attempting to tint over them.

i have 5% all around and its overkill if you drive at dusk or at night with the windows up , now if you drive with them down its fine . I almost always drive with the windows down since i have 5% and its illegal in ny . But it also looks awesome and thats why i got it . Also to hide the stereo and stuff and its protects the interior . But i wish i had 2.5 since i show it a lot. heres a pic to see what it looks like .

This is the 50th time I have posted this, and/or have tried to get somwhere.. but 3m makes tint, you obviously know that, and they make what I BELIEVE is vinyl overlay for the hatch glass... its a black out strip which virtually eliminates the dots...However you may or may not know, it is affixed to the outside of the glass, I am trying to find out the available percentages it comes in.. is it completely black? or is it maybe 5/10%??? I want one, for my t/a... i also would like the "eyebrow" i presume is its name, for the actual winshield sun tint area... 3M i believe also makes that item, but no one in this entire forum has any info about any of these topics... PM me, if you know, maybe i got answers but so many posts i havent checked for replies...
