Default Clearcoat peeling pics, help

Do the hood and front bumper need to be completely stripped and painted?(thats what the guy at the body shop told me) Also, any idea how this could happen? I bought it like this btw.

edit: on the hood those 4 spots are the only places the rest is just dust and dirt.

I'm in the same boat as you. GM painted a new bumper cover for me about 2 years ago and the clear coat is slowly peeling away from it. The paint is also spiderwebbing. The only way to fix it properly is to remove the paint and redo it.

To properly strip, prep and paint the front bumper, $400 is on the cheap side.

Remember, you get what you pay for. I have been involved in the hobby of restoring old cars my whole life and have been around quite a bit of bodyshops. My experience has told me to run away from shops that quote prices like that. For that price, I`m willing to bet that within a year it will start peeling again and will not look very good from the get go. Good Luck!!!

Agreed with makoshark. After learning how to paint show quality finishes one of the things I learned most was you get what you pay for. Find a good shop with good ratings and look for ones that warranty their paint (have one shop here), so if it ever does chip again, they replace for free. Just my .02 cents.
