Default Da*n swirls

What do you guys use? I have tried everything on my car and can't seem to get the swirl marks out of my T/A. Should I start with a rubbing compound for the mild scratches?

Currently have 3M swirl mark remover, 3M Glaze, Fine cut cleaner, NFX wax. I am a picky SOB..so this needs to look outstanding.

You have a buffer? A good cutting compound like the 3M stuff you have combined with a good cutting pad on a orbital should help alot.

If that doesn't work, Menzerna Intensive Polish II combined with a porter cable should do wonders.

Getting them out by hand won't quite cut it...get a PC 7424 and be done with it.

I'm using a buffer...but not quite top of the line. I was also using microfiber to apply. The car's an excellent 20/20 (20 mph or 20 feet away)...but when it's out in the sun it looks like poop. What retail stores carry the Porter Cable? How much? And part numbers or brands for the correct pad?

I think the Porter Cable thread at the top should give all the info you need, but I know a few people get them at Lowes... as someone stated above, Porter Cable 7424. It's a random orbital buffer, basically it works just like your hand (doesn't do the same circle over and over and over again like a regular fixed circular buffer does) but a thousand times faster.

You can get the PC at Lowes for $99
As for pads I use the Sonus pads (the kit) from www.autopia-carcare.com

The Porter Cable is the way to go. I never found it at the local Lowes, so I bought it online. Tropi-Care has a package deal with the PC and pads.

Definitely need a real polisher with some foam pads and a couple of good paint polishes.

You might look into Poorboy's, Einszett, Menzerna, Optimum, and Z-PC (depending on which last step product you will use).

This is a great starter package: http://autogeek.net/hk7424.html - you can also use "CorvetteForum" for a 10% discount.

in my opinion, the 3m swirl remover 39009, polish for dark colored paint 05996 or the glaze 06066 are the best. get the foam polishing pad 3M 05725. my swirls went away after polishing the car twice, they will not completely go away the first time.

Actually, if you are using a DA polisher like the PC 7424, no scratches or swirls will completely go away. They will be much harder to see though since it rounds over the light-reflecting edges.
