Don't skimp on the paint work. Find the BEST shop in your area to do this, since black will show every little screw up that they could make.

I think there's a kit that will use your rear defogger grid as an antenna. I know some newer cars use the defogger for the antenna.

I did this the other day too. I got a vaccum cap to put on the thread of the antenna and it doesn't look too bad, this will do for now untill I get a power antenna or as you are doing filling in the hole.

Have you thought about just doing a power antenna? I realize you went down this path already.... but just a question.....

have a body shop weld in a metal patch piece. we deleted the antena on our V6 car becuase it needed the 1/4 repainted anyways, they just filled it in, you can see it but its not to bad for a V6 car to putter around in

they sell signal boosters so you dont even need an antena

I wanted to shave mine and I was quoted $700-800 by a body shop that primarly does show cars. This was guaranteeing a perfect blend/match.

I didn't have the money to blow on that or buy a power antenna so here was my solution. I took the antenna off, cut the threaded rod off the mast, filed things smooth, and then painted it satin. Kinda looks like a fake power antenna, still looks cleaner than before though.

BTW: excuse the lack of shine, I havn't been able to touch the car for a month because of my schedule.
