wow...
progression of MY car
when i got it..
sanded nose..
primered hood and nose...
striped..
hold over till i can afford an expensive gloss black paintjob...
powdercoated motor and accessories
completely rebuilt motor and trans, black powdercoated wheels, 4th gen cloth seats.
i dont know about you guys, but my car looks better now flat black than the teal with black hood and clear coat comming off, better than teal with clear coat comming off and a primered nose... everywhere i drive that car people comment on it and say that it looks and sounds bad/evil, i like the car painted flat black, and it just needs dark tinted windows. also, i think you guys need to actualy work on your own cars

Well, you shoulda put it like that in the first place. With all the work in the drivetrain, I' d be driving it in primer for a little while too. I just don' t like when people prime their vehicles with no intention of ever putting paint on them.

I hate to say it's more acceptable for hot rods, but that seems to be the case. Maybe it's because we're so used to seeing them. I think a fourth-gen would look out of place if left unpainted.
Good luck to you with whatever route you decide to go. Make sure you post pics of the finished project.

some people around here trip me out. I think the 3rd gen looks cool, I bet it looks good in person, primer or dull cars dont always look well in a picture but once you see them rolling they look fine. I guess its ok to primer the car if there is a rat under the hood, but it looks like crap if there is no engine work? I think a primered 4th gen would look absolutely sick with some meat out back and the right stance. I'm not gonna primer my CE to get that look, but if I had a bad paint job having 93-95 I would do it. Especially to give the middle finger to some of the people on this board.

I bet in another 20 years when our cars are "old" and ppl are starting to have to restore you'll see alot of primered cars and it'll be more accepted than it is now....just look at the rubber nosed 2nd gens, they just starting to be accepted into the family....

if you drive a 4th gen you need to have some clean paint...we arent some 240 ricers who role around in some shitty *** looking cars that look like they came straight out of the Mad Max movie.
I can see if you are saving up money for some kandy paint or something. but driving around a primered car sucks. I know, my first car was a 67 malibu that was primer gray with a brown hood now I have some nice metallic factory paint

personally i think the primer look is crap in my opinion. the back half of my TA has been primer for a month now. waiting on the paint shop to get off their butt. they have to paint the whole car. got the mecham hood on and the rear bumper has had all the PONTIAC letters and lines from the license plate smoothed over and the antenna hole is no longer there on the passenger 1/4 panel. i hate primer.....

I think a well done(and I stress that!) matte-black on a 4th gen with some nice Bogart D10 wheels on it and 425+hp would be indeed a VERY badass ride!!! Especially if it has clear corner lenses and converted to those round-bulb driving lights...

Why don't you just buy an '85 Civic that is already painted that color and put big wheels and a coffee can on it.

I think flat or semi gloss black would look kickass on the RIGHT 4th gen... I think a dirty drag car with an excessive amount of horsepower could pull it off... my friend has a 73 chevelle painted semi gloss black and that thing looks pretty mean...
the TA in the picture looks kinda cool... if the black weren't so splotchy it would look kinda cool...
