Default Stock Grille

I was just wondering how the heck you get that stock plastic grille w/ the embossed camaro on front of it. i have a 99 SS and i can get the side clips out of the car, but i cant get the top and bottom ones out, if anyone has done it, which im sure many have would ya let me know a trick to getting them out.

I used a screwdriver wrapped in a cloth to pry out the side ones.

thanks

what i've heard is just pull as hard as you can. Sometimes this causes them to warp but most of the time it doesn't.

I pulled mine when I got my car, and yes you get the sides out and then pull as hard as you can on it to get the top and bottom clips to let loose. I broke a peg or two on mine a little doing this, but it didn't bother me because it wasen't going back on.

If you are not planning on reinstalling the stocker then just yank that **** off. Otherwise be careful and do your best not to break them.

yea i was wondering because there was no way in hell that thing was coming out with being gentle.

i want to just take the grille off and have the deep part of the bumper showing, i think it looks mean, and then eventually get a billet grille. just wondering if the back part, behind the foam and all that is painted from the factory, that goes really deep into the nose, and has embossed "camaro" on it?

thank sfor your help.

the "correct" way is to take the front bumper off and take the plastic nuts off the back side, but thats too much work for everyone

I really like that look! a lot more clean than most !grilles.

I'm thinking of doing that, then cutting some metal strips and using them to cover up the holes. Should look even cleaner. You've got the gears turning tho.

Best way - Pull on the outer most portions, then the lower then the upper. Work from outer to inner on the upper and lower portions. The upper one's will be somewhat hard, but you should be able to get the grille off within 30 seconds....even if taking your time.

Be prepared to wash behind that area tho. Mine was horrid lol.
