Default Battery Relocation Pics

Posted this in the External Engine forum but thought I'd post it here too since I did it mainly as an Appearance Mod:

Here are some pics of the hatch end of my battery relocation. Used an Optima Red Top, AFCO battery tray(same as BMR only $60.00 cheaper from Summitt) , 2/0 Gauge Positive Wire(probably overkill but wanted to be safe) and 2 gauge ground wire, and 200 Amp inline Type T fuse.

Here's an overall shot of the setup:

Here's a shot of the 200 Amp fuse:

Here's a shot of the 2/0 gauge + wire. This is a big *** wire at 5/8" diameter:

Pretty simple install. Hardest part was routing the 2/0 gauge wire under the carpet where the passenger seat mount is. Otherwise routing was pretty easy because even though the wire is huge, it's still pretty flexible.

I put my battery on the left side so that I could keep my spare tire. I used number 1 cable to run to the front. Tray was $10 @ NAPA

The block now has a lexan cover. This bolts in stock bat. tray.

more relocation info.

looks nice,(from the other thread) do you have to use a dist. block at the front? or can you just make the wires long enough so that entire area is clear?

Brandon,

There probably a lot of different ways of dealing with the front connections.
You could make the wires long enough, but I think that would require cutting the stock battery terminals off and splicing the wires together. I didn't do that in case I ever wanted to go back to stock, it would be very easy. Plus with the dist. block I can jump the car from the front if needed. And last but not least, I am making a cover for that area where you won't see the dist. block at all, so nothing ugly to look at. I'll post some pics when done.

By the way, I MAY have enough brass block left over if anyone wants to do this, I can send their way for a nominal fee

Looks awesome! I'm going to have to do something like this soon as I need two batteries.
