Default Tint

What do you guys use at the top of the rear window where all the little dots from the rear defroster cause the tint to bubble up? I was planning on cutting that part out and painting but I would like to know which paint looks the best? The tint is 5%. TIA

My tint guy used black vinyl on that part, then 5% on the rest of the window. You can't see any dots at all from the outside. I've heard of people painting this, but it sounds like it could be a mess, and a pain in the *** as well.

Just have the shop put a strip of black vinyl over it and it will work perfectly. That's how most good shops should do it.

you can also feather edge the dots out with some 600 grit sandpaper and some water, then apply tint over it

I heard that you could use a strip of black vinyl and just put that over it.

I have mine tinted with no problems. I've used my defroster and it hasn't had any problems. I think if it is installed properly and you don;t use any window cleaner with amonia in it you should be ok.

Yeah, the black vinyl works great. You can probably get a strip of it from a local sign shop.

Local guy here has his dots painted flat black. He showed me up close and unless you know what you're looking for it you can't tell it's been painted. The tint starts below that and is done in one piece. I'm planning on going to the same shop in the spring to have mine done.
