I cant remember where I picked up my shorty from. But then again, I have a Camaro w/o a power antenna. You probably have to replace the power unit for a fixed mast, then get the shorty. Not wanting to sound like a search ****, but do a search for shorty antenna's and see what you cant come up with (Im fairly sure I got mine from a vendor someone posted about in there...)

I know there's stuff for the C4 and C5 that makes the power antenna not stick out so much so its less stress on the motor, and its not as prone to sticking. A lot of the vette mags had those kits, but Im not sure if it'd work on an Fbody. That might not be exactly what you're looking for, but at least its another option.

Not sure about the one in your pic...it looks to me like it may be a partially extended power antenna...of course the pic may be playing tricks on my eyes. I bought my shortie from SS inserts, but it is about the length of the one linked above. To convert a power antenna T/A to fixed-mast, you will need the Camaro fixed mounting base in addition to the antenna mast. You could shorten a factory fixed mast antenna, but I remember reading somewhere that it must be shortened in multiples of the wavelength it's tuned for...

I bought mine off of ebay for like $15. Still get great reception on radio and looks so much better than the fishin rod.

Switch to a standard fixed antenna from any auto parts store then cut it down to whatever length you want. With a vise and pliers (wrap the jaws with duct tape) you can get the ball off the piece you cut off and then glue it to the shortened portion on the car. If you cut it too short and you go through an automatic wash it will bend and possibly put a crease in the rear quarter.

A universal antenna has everything you need to mount it to your car, you may even use the plastic pass through piece from your old antenna.

I run a dummy antenna on mine due to XM radio. Looks like a power that is down from the outside and just has nothing on the inside. I have my battery there now anyway.
