Default Tasteless external mods...

http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...=en&cardist=22

I'm very interested in the car and price, and it's only 22 miles away! But that wing hurts my heart everytime I see it, and I'm not much a fan of the body kit either.

How much would it cost to take off that wing and put on the stock one, then have it color matched? Would it be more practical to just get another stock spoiler and paint over the car? And I could be wrong but I don't think any SS's came with the ground effects kit... is that one aftermarket?

yeah thats ad aftermarket body kit however the ss did come with an options ground effex kit but im pritty sure that isn't it however it doesn't look bad but i am still not a fan of body kits on muscle cars. as for taking it off and painting a new one it would probly be best to search here on the used parts forum or on ebay and get a new spoiler thats allready black. if its now black(some wierd blue) then the painting price all depends on the quality maco could probly do it for $100 but it may only last a few years. a high quality paint job would run probly 2 or 3 hundred bux or more. hope this helps

Thats an aftermarket bodykit. To put on a stock SS wing wont be *that* much. You can find one at a junkyard, or off this board then just paint it Navy Blue Metallic (which is what the color of that car is - refered to as NBM) pull that commando wing off and put the SS or any other spoiler up there you wish.

DEFINATLEY check that car out before you buy it. I paid $7500 cash for my 99 SS and it had more milage and a much better body than that.

Looks like its been sitting awhile...the rear tire is flat. Make sure it's an SS too. Some dealers don;t know anything. Could be a clone.

Cheap price but looks like it's been beat. $200-300 for a new rear wing plus paint. It's got Torq II's on it but the rear looks flat and the front looks bald. NO SS EVER had a ground effects kit as an option. Look for the WU8 code on the door sticker to make sure it's a real SS. The nose and side GFX pieces look like they don't fit right and the door and quarter panel look kinda messed up in that pic. I'd definately check it out in person first. Around here I've yet to see ANY 98+ SS go for under 10K. Even beater V6's with 130K+ miles go for $3000-3500.

Are you sure there isnt a stock spoiler already on there. Its a bad angle but it kinda looks like the big wing is on top of the old spoiler or is it one of those stupid double decker wings?

It's a double decker wing. I believe the Commando Wing is an SS style spoiler with the upper one made onto it. It may just be a bolt on on top of the stock spoiler. I haven't seen one in person to know how it's really attached.

Becareful because that SS hood looks like a repro...maybe it is just the lighting though. And the commando wing is from WingsWest.com you can look on there and see that it is built into the spoiler. If I were you I think I would add in the price of a new paint job to the cost of the car and then decide if it is worth it from there. It looks as if the car was not babied in any way from the pic.

It's a 2-piece wing, but the fins and the bottom spoiler are one piece and the 2nd wing fits snuggly into place and bolts in between the fins. That is a Wings West front lip, Wings West spoiler, and it looks like Xenon or Wings West side skirts, not sure.

With a non-factory SS hood along with OEM SS badges, I would bet it is not a real SS. I'd put money on a Z28 with a hood, wing, gfx, and SS badging.

What's really interesting is the bodykit. That looks like a bodykit that I think WW makes for the Firebirds? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my friend has that same front lip on his 'Bird.

It really doesn't look too bad, but like stated it's an aftermarket hood, so make sure it's really an SS and not a Z28. I agree with you though on that wing, the only time I've ever seen that wing look great is on convertibles.
