Default The VFN 3" SS hood.

Well I've got it on the car, with a few complaints.

First, the hood required ALOT of body work due to waves from poor molding, or so my body guy said. and before anyone says he ripped me off, he's a close personal friend, and very good at what he does, so hehe.

This hood is SUPER light weight, we had to remove 1 hood strut to get it to close because this thing has NO weight.

We fashioned a custom painted blue pearl mesh to in the scoop, looks great just catches alot of bugs

Fitment, this thing didn't like to fit at all, we had to cut the stock hinges to get it to fit.

HOWEVER, after all the hardships of getting it to fit, and painted and what not, I'm very happy with the result.

I can't imagine guys who wan't the 4" hoods, this thing is huge, you can sit in it and see through the scoop to the road when inside, it's insane.

Pics in about an hour. waiting on film

Everyone I've talked to said they loved it and had no problems

maybe I just got an exception?

I also ordered the hood cut and with an insert, when It arrived at the shop, it was uncut, and had no insert.

I called VFN and explained my problem and the guy I talked to sounded insulted that I called, almost as if his hood COULD NOT possibly have problems.

besides getting horribly offended being out of line, you could tell they aren't used to getting calls about problems with their products.

So I wasn't to happy with their customer service as well, however, on the plus side, they got it to me lightning fast, I was told 3-4 week wait and I got it on like day 9 after the order, just over a week.

I'm in the process of getting a 4" on my T/A. We had waves and fitment issues as well. We had to reverse the struts (don't ask me...it worked) to make it sit flush and then my body guy claimed they went through hell getting it to fit right around the headlights. I dropped in to see the progress a couple of times and I didn't see a whole lot going on so I think he's trying to blame his own slowness on an aftermarket product that he most likely didn't know much about working on to begin with. I gave them all the VFN contact info when I took the car in and warned him that it was common to need some work in the headlight area. You would think he was rebuilding the whole damned car with all the whining he's done.

Anyway, I'm utterly disgusted with my shop and personally, I didn't see any waves. On the upside, I have to say, VFN service has been top notch as far as my experience with them. They accidentally shipped me two of the same inserts instead of a left and a right one, but they took care of that just as soon as I notified them. (GM mixed up the part numbers, so it really wasn't a VFN mistake.) I've also had a couple of other questions for them that they jumped on and answered in a very reasonable amount of time. Maybe you just caught that guy on a bad day. I always deal with Jeanie over there.

I drove around with the hood on for about a week while I was waiting for my turn in the paint shop. It definitely turned A LOT of heads. I can't hardly wait to get it back!! Visibility isn't as much of an issue as I thought it would be. My seat is definitely extended as far upward as I can get it, though!!

Ok, everyday I get off work and come home thinking I'm going to see the pics. And everyday I'm disappointed. This is the gayest thread in LS1Tech History.
