Default door rubs fender

when i open my drivers door it rubs the fender a bit it squeekes and has rubbed off the paint about 1/3 rd of the way down the edge of the door panel....the door panel is kinda loose right now i have double sided tape holding it, this only works for a few days....on days when its warm out it gets really bad i need to reach my arm outside and hold the door panel while i open it...its dark right now so i cant take pics but i'll try to take some so you can see what im talking about....so anywho who do i fix this and what do i do about the area where the paint is scratched off

am i the only person to have this problem?

Mine did the same thing. There is a bolt/nut inside that holds the fender outwards. It attaches to a little bracket. What i did was buy some of those washers with the angled fingers on the outer edges (wow that sounds really stupid but i cant think of the name of them). Put one on the nut side and one on the bolt head side, they will bite into the bracket and fender so that it doesnt slide back in and rub the door. Worked fine for me. You will have to remove your inner fender well to access it.

Mine does it every now and then but not often enough for me to know what the problem is. It hasn't done it in months now

i had my car for about 2 weeks in august, then it started doing it.....it just barely touches now that its cold but back in like november we had a mild day (about 70*) and it was horrible, i had to put the window dowm and push in-ward on my panel to open my door....im going to dread spring time unless i get this fixed

i still really have no idea.
i cant even picture what you're talking about, and i cant imagine why the panel would be loose enough to do that

You are talking about the exterior door skin rubbing? Is the door itself out of alignment? If its the door out of alignment adjust it but using the 2 hinges that it bolts to.

In my case it was just that the bolt holding the fender to the bracket had loosened just barely enough to let the fender rest a little closer towards the car. Then when i opened my door instead of rotating behind the fender, it would clip the edge of it and pop.

Someone could have bumped your front bumper thus, knocking your fender out of line.

ok i know this thread is getting old now, but i was just at the dealership where i got my car cause they need to fix my driverside power window...low and behold they have a formula in the show room, silver, ram air, convertable ( makes me wish i had waited on my purchase) i give it the typical "god damn it i could kick myself for not waiting" routine as i walk around it. i get to the driver side and the door panel rubs the fender, has the same scar as mine, exactly the same WTF !! the saleman said i should check and see if there was a recall or anything for this. anybody know anything about this?

Pretty common I guess. My 02 SS had that problem slightly. It was fixed under warranty at 430 miles on the odometer. The LF fender was out of alignment.
