I saw those too! There was someone on ebay selling that brand as well. I think the raeson I went with the GTEC was because of a higher feedback rating. I think anyways.

We just instead a 6000K GTEC on my friends 02 SS. EVERYTHING was plug-and-play and took 20 minutes, if that, to install. Here's some pics and comparision of my 8000K T/A HIDs versus his 6000K SS HIDs.

Have you been able to ride in the SS? How brighter is the SS? I know the higher the temp, the less light is made but can you really tell a difference?

So infinite let me just get this straight. As help for me and other bird owners this is what we need to buy.

1. The Un Sealed Housing http://eurolamps.com/eurolamps/camaro_headlights.htm (Low Beams Type 4703, High Beams 4701 *if wanted to be done*)

2. The HID Kit H7 Bulb Type http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT
(With whatever Temp you want )

I know everyone says to buy the projectors but I want try these out first. Also I was reading taht the higher the temperature the less the light, so I was thinking 6000K. When I saw the comparison from your homeboys camaro and your TA, 8000k sold me. Haha Thanks for all the information.

4200k is what all auto manufacturers now use. If 8000k was actually better don't you think they would use 8000K? Just something to think about since bigger isn't always better.

The vette-HID link posted above has my interest. That type of kit would be great since it includes the correct projector housing.

I might have something that will work the problem is realestate i do not know if there is enough room for the projector. If someone lives in DFW area and wants me to order a test fit kit in I will and give it a shot. Someone please pm me the replacement sealed beam part number for the car.

Thanks

There are a ton of people with Firebirds in the DFW area, you may have to start a new thread in the Texas Forum with this info to get someone to bite.

FASTls1, Yeah I know that manufacturers dont use high temps such as 8000k, But just looking at the pictures as Infinite posted up earlier, his temp just looked a little more cleaner. I know its stupid to judge this all through a camera than actually seeing it for myself, but i dont really know the difference besides the color of how the light is, crystal white or blue. As for the kit off the vette site, you mean buying that complete kit (projection lights, HIDs etc) They're selling for well over a grand. I just dont have that money right now. I get your point though, to replace stock housings with the correct projection housings. I'm just buying the hids first and using them for the mean time.

Yes the kit would be over $1000
Thats why we do not have them in production for the F-body.
The vette kit is almost sold out.
I can supply something but I do not think the demand will be there.
I cannot make a post soliciting here I'm not a forum vendor.

Yep that's what you need 2001.

6000K HIDs can see further than 8000K HIDs. The only reason I went with 8000K is I wanted a bluish tint. Kinda a lame reason, but with blue gauges and a blue car, I had to do it. HIDs, probably in any color temp, is a HUGE upgrade in your lighting!

For the most part yes, hids in most temp ranges yeild some kind of increase over stock halogens, but when you put an hid bulb in a housing not designed for it, the results are no so good. You will get alot of glare which is what actually blinds other drivers. Also, for why the 8k lights seemed to be brighter than 5300, the way most cameras work tend to lend more crispness to a blue color, making the white look dull. This is exagerated when its extremely dark.

01redTa - So what you're saying is the reason why the 8000k looked more cleaner and "brighter" was cause of the camera? I'm pretty much set to upgrading to HIDs but I want to make the right choice, So its either 6000K or 8000K. Probably go with 6000K since I've been told its the brightest.
Also I know the glare is a problem on this thread. But I dont have money for projetion lens right now. But I will buy them.

infinite, since you were able to see both 6000K and 8000k in person, which do you think shines furthest/brightest? I have a friend with 8000K in his hatch and it looks clean. But thats the only Hids I've seen.

Agreed with the camera. It doesn't pick up colors at night very well. My blue gauges look more light blue or cyan colored than what they do in person which is blue.

I haven't rode in the SS with the 6000K kit. We could see stop signs WAY down the road we were on. I'd assume that they 6000K should be better though. My friend did state that he wished he'd gone with the 8000K. I think it was because it's just more apparent that you have HIDs.

As far as glare, there is definitely more w/o projectors. It's really hard to say cause even factory HID vehicles give off LOTS of glare from a distance but get really tame the closer they get. From what people tell me, mine are the same (though I'd assume with more glare). But I still have yet to be flashed, so I can assume it must not be bothering other drivers too bad. Also been around lots of cops and they don't look twice at the car.
