No it's not. It weighs 8lbs or so.

And if you read what I posted earlier you'll see I didn't do it to save weight anyway.

I will be producing a good quality rear seat delete kit in the spring and make them available . there will most likely be many different options for these kits , pricing should be available around mid march.

guess it helps if i learn to read....

But anyhow.. im not to keen on having PLYWOOD in my car. Im sure there is a more lightweight option, i.e. fiberglass or carbon fiber but that would need a mold and require a bit more work.

That would kind of defeat the purpose of why I made it in the first place (didn't have $250 to spend on rear seats). This project cost less than $20 and was done in a few hours. If I wanted to make something super nice I could, given the time and money, but that wasn't my objective here...and like I said also, it's very light. You can move it around/out of the car with one hand comfortably. It's durable too. I would be afraid of cracking the fiberglass when I throw wheels & tires back there, or scratching pretty C/F when I get groceries...

In any case I finally found some cheap rear seats to put back there so I will probably retire my delete for a while.

the fact that i dont understand how u think the sail panels in the back of camaros differ from car to car, imo they would all be the same. why would they not be?

Because its impossible to get something in an assembly line perfect every time. Just take a look at the exterior body panels on your car. In almost car you will see some snugged closer than other.

I'm going to incorporate an amp rack when I do mine. That way I can still throw in some slicks and toss my floorjack in the trunk when I go to the track

That's what I was getting at...

For instance I took my delete and tried to put it in the formula, and it was a super tight fit.

The sail panels are the same, yes, that's not what I was saying...it's just that they lay differently. Some stick out more than others. I've seen cars where you can see a gap between the interior panel and the weatherstripping, etc.

I couldn't even tell you the dimensions if I wanted to. It would be impossible to describe the S curve that goes from the rear to the front...hence why I said grab a piece of foam, sit in the car, and go at it until it fits the way you want it to.

If people are really worried about weight you can use some 1/4" Sandply. Extremely light and durable. Probably weighs half of a piece the same size made out of regular ply. Weight wasn't too much of an issue for me, i just wanted a spot for my bottle. Mounted it there because i have plans for other areas.

yeah i was going to mention that while 1/2" plywood is great and strong..and relatively inexpensive...there are other alternatives....just use your brains and shop for other materials.....either way i think this mod is cool and great place for a system, amps, or even a bottle
