Question HID conversion the correct way

For the Pontiac crowd we have some options on how we convert to HID's. The latest way is to buy the sealed beam conversion kit, then install the HID conversion bulbs.
Doing it this way your still putting an HID bulb into a reflector designed for an incandescent bulb.

What if you just bought these round projector housings built for HID bulbs and installed them in place of the square sealed beam headlights? If you have to buy the sealed beam conversion lights anyway, why not buy housings designed for HID's?

There are 90mm and 120mm housings, I'm guessing we would have to use the 90mm housings and the HID conversion kit talked about in the other thread.

Someones already done it, but I only have the pic.

I would use them in a heartbeat, if someone would come up with a housing made similar to the Breathless, but only round openings for the HID lights, rather than rectangles...

I forget who it was, but someone on here used those housings....do a search...I can't think of his name but he used the OE housing and took the glass off, then drilled a hole in it for the projectors to come through...he put them in both places HI and LOW beams...

I have no clue, but I plan to start looking becuase I'd like to do this conversion now. With the proper housings I think it's actually a safe conversion. With the sealed beam conversion housings I personally didn't like the reflector housing with an HID projector beam idea, it would radiate too much light IMO. Plus this looks to be about the same amount of money, maybe just a little more for the projector housings.

I know the blue Hawk that I posted was Lude Conduct's car, or "Imperator" on the old LS1.com.

Your right. I got the 2 mixed up. Skytower on LS2 also did a HID conversion. There is a another guy on here that did the same conversion on his pewter TA. http://www.afbforums.com/index.php?&...CODE=12&CID=47
