Default How much to get CME valence painted?

I got SLP CME tips and an unpainted valance for Christmas. I can put the tips on no problem, but I went to drop the valance off to be painted and I was given an estimate of $200 and I had to buy the paint and bring it in. This seems very unreasonable to me. I've known guys that have had an entire hood painted for $200-250, and the shop supplied the paint. Granted this is a high end hot-rod shop, but still.

How much did you guys pay? I need to know if I should start looking elsewhere.

Think i paid 250 to have mine painted. That was me dropping it off as it was in the box and picking it up ready to stick on.

Paint and supplies are expensive!!!

I'd paint the tips black before I got them chromed. I hate chrome. Actually now that I think about it, I might just paint them black or have them powdercoated. I like the more subtle look anyways.

I also got the CME tips and valance for Christmas. I was noticing how thin and flexible the valance is. It seems like after you get it painted that if was to twist or bend to much that it would cause the paint to crack or flake. Could that happen you think?

That would be good to...but if black is ok with you just put them on. They will be black on there own in no time!!!

You can crack the paint if you bend it to far, but the paint should have a fex additive to help prevent that. It really should not crack of flake real easily though only if the prep wasnt right or the paint is to thick.

That seems a little high if you buy the paint. Shop around if you can.

Don't worry about flexing it or anything. The paint should stay on if it is prepped right.

Whatever you do, make sure the shop uses plastics adhesion promotor on it. If they do not, it will peel off.

Good Luck

$200 should get it done, including materials.

Cost me about $160 for the paint and having a friend paint it. He asked for 75, but I gave him 100.

Cost me 350, but I had really bad spider webbing on the bumper from a pole. It was well worth it considering the amount of work put into it.
