Alright, alright...to get back to this post's topic, I'll contribute this:
a free appearance mod would be to remove your front license plate and put on your firebird shield (if applicable).

!badging/!mouldings make a simple but sweet look. CETA(or Berger for camaros) rear bumper looks really clean and simple. for non R/A cars(doesn't work imo on r/a cars), grand sport stripes(hash) like suggested before look really good. painted/overlaid front plate cover looks good(put quite a few coats so rocks don't chip it too bad). take off the bird on the taillite filler panel. painted calipers. overlaid/painted PONTIAC/CAMARO on the back looks really good too.

Remove the moldings and badges, paint brake calipers, spend the money to get the windows tinted, keep it washed and waxed and maybe dress up the wheels w/vinyl centercap overlays and chrome lugnut covers. Depending on the color of your car, paint the rear valance. Blackouts are cheap. If you have a dark car, buff it every so often to keep the paint smooth and you'll be set until you can get it lowered and some rims.

Oh, and I don't know about anyone else, but the exhaust tone can completely change my perspective on a car. Get a cutout and just cut off your stock cast tips to look like you have duals dumped and that would get my attn. anyday.

I came in here to suggest the Grand Sport stripes, but someone already did. I got mine from Afterthoughts too. $30 bucks and they completely changed the look of my car and get complimented daily. Click the link in my sig for more pics.

Nice under the hood cheap mod for visual effect. Using Mother's Aluminum Polish for a few bucks a jar.. I polished the A/C Receiver Dryer under the hood. removed the sticker.. It doesn't take much pressure... just apply the polish.. buff over lightly until it turns black.. and wipe off with a dry rag. Do that about 20-30 times. This would work for any aluminum part under the hood. Here is the comparison photos.
