Removing window tint

Removing window tint
Hi guys! I'm thinking of getting rid of my tints from both doors and rear hatchback. What is the best procedure for doing this?? Is there a special tool or tint removal solution? I know about the possibility of loosing some defroster lines. Some guy told me to remove the film in the same direction of the defroster lines to minimize breaking them. A friend told me he did it and removed the glue using WD40. Any opinions? I need help!!!
I'm doing this myself because no one will guarantee the defroster lines. I prefer to doing it and blaming only me for any problem!!

For the front windows, Peel an edge off and just rip it off. As for the Back window just grab a corner and just rip a little more gentle and it wouldnt hurt to pull along the defroster lines. It will leave a sticky film on the window and the best stuff to use to get that off is 3M Adhesive Remover. It is in an aerosol can and you should be able to find it at Wal-Mart or a hardware store. Just spay it on and wipe it off. Hope this helps. If you dont mind me asking why are you taking the tint off?

for the sides.... peel off the tint and use some glass cleaner. spray the glue down and scrape it with a razor blade. only go up and/or down. not side to side. more likely to scratch the glass side to side.
for the rear. get some kind of adhesive remover. at my work we get stuff from our tint suppliers called "tint remover solution" very plain i know lol.....
so pull the rear tint off....then soak the remaining glue with tint remover and use a scotch brite pad. NOT STEEL WOOL. just a normal white scotch brite and that will loosen it up. then just "rinse and repeat" until all the glue is off. using a squeegy to get the gluey mess off the rear window helps too

Wait wait wait, before removing the hatch tint, read the link Luna posted... this is very important, otherwise you will try removing the tint, only to have the films seperate, and then the only way to get it off is by scraping it.

Now if you dont use that method in the link, then youll end up having to use a razor blade...

I tried to remove tint glue with a razor 3 years ago and it scratched my passenger window all to hell. I guess my Trans Am came equipped with the special "soft glass". While I was getting the glass replaced everyone at the auto glass shop said razors are a no no. I didn't need a trash bag to remove the rear tint btw.
