The engine was left in the car. Most of the engine was disassembled to polish, but the block was left in. I polished the front part of the block. There isn't any clearcoat because it cuts down on the "wet gloss" of naked polish. I haven't touched the shine in 7 months, it'll look the same as long as you don't drive the car in rain. Crappy road grime water will wash up into the bay and bake on the motor. That's when you have to work extra. I'd say the LT1 would look just as good since most of the visble engine is aluminum also. I have an LT1, but it's my daily beater so it stays naturaaaal.
