Default question regaurding powdercoating

Hey guys, im looking to add some bling under the hood and currently have the red hotchkis strut tower brace. it is aluminum powdercoated red but i want it a mirror polished finish. Can i jsut sand the whole thing down to remove the powdercoat then finish with a high grit paper so its smoothe and polish or will the powdercoating not come out?

It can be removed, not fun but can be done.

At work when there are mistakes we usually cook the part in this chemical (I have no idea of the name, but it smells bad ) Then wash it off in a PH bath then when it's dry sand blast it. You can take Powder off sandblasting but it takes awhile. I did it on my Hotchkis STB.

Someone suggested that sanding may not get the powdercoating off so i should use aircraft remover? Should i use this instead of sanding or what? Thanks!

Aircraft Remover will strip it. You'll most likely have to do multiple coats, but it'll eventually wear away. You can help the process out if you put the strut tower brace inside a plastic trash bag, or some other kind've plastic film that will hold the fumes in. You're not going to be able to get a mirror finish out of it with sandpaper alone, so I hope you have a bench grinder and some buffing wheels handy.
