Default Headlights

Is there any way to over ride your headlights from coming on automatically?

In other words, yank out the C2 plug and live with not having an Ebrake like on the dashboard when the Ebrake is pulled, and not having the automatic hatch release anymore, right?

um, no. That has nothing to do with pulling the sensor. The sensor tells the computer if its light or dark outside....no sensor= always daytime.

I thought that the sensor was a photo-electric cell.
...(It generates power/current with sunlight. )
...(-or- )
...(changes resistance with sunlight. )
...([less resistance with sunlight, more in darkness] )
Wouldn't pulling it out signal that its always dark?

Most of the threads that I've seen on this subject say to remove the sensor and jump the wires that went to it.

I found a few old threads:

The sensor works by increasing resistance as it gets darker out. At a certain point the system determines that enough resistance is present to be in the dark and turns on the headlights. Unplugging the sensor would create infinite resistance. No sensor = always night (auto headlights always on). You need to short the two sensor wires together to create zero resistance = always daytime. The quickest and easiest way to do this is to crimp a Scotchlock connector across the two sensor wires. That way you don't have to cut anything and it can be easily restored to factory operation.
